PicklX LLC
This policy explains what PicklX LLC (“PicklX,” “we,”
“us”) collects when you visit playpicklx.com, why we collect
it, and what you can ask us to do with it. Today this website does one thing with personal
information: it takes an email address so we can tell you when PicklX opens. We have tried
to write this the way we would want it written for us.
01Who we are
PicklX LLC is a Delaware limited liability company. We are the controller of the personal
information described in this policy. You can reach us at
founders@playpicklx.com, or by mail at 8 The Green, Suite B, Dover, DE 19901.
02What this policy covers
This policy covers the PicklX website at playpicklx.com and any email we send you because
you asked us to. It does not cover:
- Websites, apps or venues operated by other companies, including facilities that may
one day host PicklX courts. Those operators have their own policies.
- The on-court PicklX experience itself, which does not exist yet. When it launches,
it will be governed by a separate, more specific notice. Section 14 explains why.
03Information we collect
Information you give us
- Your email address, when you join the early-access list.
- Anything you write to us — if you email us, we have your message,
your address, and whatever you chose to put in it.
Information collected automatically
Like nearly every website, ours is delivered by a hosting provider that keeps standard
server logs. Those logs can include your IP address, browser and device type, the pages
you requested, the site you came from, and the date and time. We use them to keep the site
up, to understand roughly how much traffic we get, and to investigate abuse.
We do not build advertising profiles, we do not run third-party ad trackers, and we do
not use your information to follow you around the internet.
Information we do not want
Please do not send us sensitive personal information — government identifiers, health
information, payment card numbers, or precise location. We are not asking for it and we
have no use for it. If you send it anyway, we will delete it when we notice.
04How we use information
- To tell you when PicklX opens, and to send occasional updates you asked for.
- To answer you when you write to us.
- To operate, secure and improve the website.
- To comply with law, and to establish or defend legal claims.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural
advertising. We have never done either and we are not planning to.
05Legal bases
If you are in the UK, Switzerland or the European Economic Area, we rely on these legal
bases: your consent, for marketing email (withdrawable at any time); our
legitimate interests, in running a secure website and replying to people
who contact us; and legal obligation, where the law requires us to keep
or produce information.
06When we share
We share personal information only in these situations:
- Service providers who run things on our behalf — website hosting,
email delivery, error monitoring. They may use it only to provide the service to us.
- Legal requirements, when we believe in good faith that disclosure is
required by law or necessary to protect the rights or safety of anyone.
- A business transaction, such as a merger, financing or sale of
assets. If personal information would move to a different controller, we will say so
before it happens.
07Cookies and similar technologies
This site is deliberately light on cookies. We do not use advertising or cross-site
tracking cookies. If we add analytics or other measurement tools, we will update this
section before turning them on, and where consent is legally required we will ask for it
first.
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Doing so should not
stop this site from working.
08How long we keep it
- Early-access email addresses: until you unsubscribe or ask us to
delete them, or until we decide the list is no longer active.
- Correspondence: as long as needed to handle the matter and keep a
reasonable record of it.
- Server logs: a short period set by our hosting provider, typically
measured in weeks, unless we need to keep an entry to investigate abuse.
09Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encryption in
transit and limiting who can reach the data. No method of transmission or storage is
perfectly secure, and we cannot promise absolute security.
10Your choices and rights
Email. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. You can also
write to founders@playpicklx.com and we will take you off the list.
Access, correction, deletion, portability, objection. Depending on
where you live, you may have the right to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, to
delete it, to receive a copy, to object to or restrict a use, or to withdraw consent.
Email us and we will do it. We will not treat you differently for asking.
How we verify you. Because the only identifier we hold is an email
address, we normally verify a request by replying to that address. If we cannot reasonably
verify who you are, we may have to decline — we will explain why.
Timing. We aim to respond within 30 days, and will tell you if we need
longer where the law allows an extension.
Authorised agents may submit requests on your behalf with proof of
authority. If you are in the UK or EEA, you also have the right to complain to your local
supervisory authority.
11California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the CCPA as amended by the CPRA gives you the rights
described above, plus the right to know the categories of personal information we collect
and why. In the past twelve months we have collected identifiers (email
address, IP address) and internet activity (server log data), for the
purposes in Section 4, from you and from your device.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for
cross-context behavioural advertising. We have not done so in the preceding
twelve months, including for consumers we know to be under 16.
We honour Global Privacy Control and similar opt-out preference signals where they apply.
We have no financial incentive programmes.
12Children
This website is not directed to children. Do not use it or give us your email address if
you are under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16,
and if we learn we have, we will delete it. A parent or guardian who believes we have
information about their child should email us and we will remove it.
13International visitors
We operate in the United States, and our service providers are generally in the United
States. If you visit from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed
in the United States, where privacy law differs from the law where you live. Where a
transfer mechanism is required, we rely on the European Commission’s Standard
Contractual Clauses or another lawful mechanism.
14Courts, cameras and venues
PicklX is building technology that will eventually run on physical pickleball courts,
using cameras and sensors to follow a ball and drive lights, sound and projection. None of
that is live, and none of it collects anything through this website today.
When it does go live, court technology raises questions this policy is not the right
place to answer — what is captured, whether anything captured can identify a person, how
long a replay is kept, who at a venue can see it, and how you say no. That will get its
own notice, written for that setting, presented where the collection actually happens,
and it will not be buried in a website policy.
15Changes
We may update this policy. If we make a material change we will update the date at the
top and, where the change affects information we already hold about you and the law
requires it, we will contact you directly.
